Dubai I

Arrived in Dubai on Sunday morning @ 1.00am. Dubai airport is very classy. But the minute you leave the air conditioned airport, even at 1.30am, your glasses fog up as it is very hot and humid outside any airconditioned building, 35 degrees at 1.00am. By the time we arrived in our little hotel it was 2.30am.

Woke up early, to another humid and hot day, this time in Dubai. The view outside our window is of the Dubai Marina. Fortunately the room is airconditioned. Had a hearty breakfast in a French Restaurant, then headed for Dubai Mall (the largest air conditioned mall in the world).  Spent almost the whole day there and did not even see half of it. It is BIG. They even have an electric taxi that take the worn out patrons around the mall to just keep shopping.

Near the biggest mall is the "Tallest building in the world, "Burj Khalifa" 160 stories or 830m high. We purchased a couple of tickets, so we headed for the observation platform on 124th floor. It only takes about a minute to get to the 124th  floor. On the deck we waited till the sun set over the Persian Gulf.

At 9.30pm we watched a beautiful water fountain and light show near the Burj Khalifa. Arrived at the hotel @ 11.00pm using very efficient, clean and cheap public transport, a train that rans on a raised concrete structure. Great views from the train of the surrounding suburbs.

At 9.30pm we enjoyed a lovely water fountain light show. A nice way to finish another day of sightseeing this time in Dubai.
