Athens I

This morning we left Dubai. Jill headed for Melbourne. I headed for Athens. The flight left Dubai at 10.20 am and headed toward Kuwait City across the Persian Gulf. Then it crossed the border into Iraq towards Bagdad and Mosul. We crossed into Turkey around Elazig. Then the plane banked west towards Ismir and over the Agean Sea towards Athens.

Athens airport is very ordinary compared to Dubai airport. Took a local bus to the hotel. The hotel is opposite a beautiful park, and very central to all sight seeing. Then went out on the town to do some sight seeing at sunset. In Athens all bus sight seeing tours close at 8.00 pm. Not being deterred by the lack of  buses went exploring on foot and discovered that the Hotel Amalia that I'm staying in is only a few streets away from the Acropolis. So went for a walk to the Acropolis. Again wasn't able to go up the hill for a closer look at the Acropolis as they had a concert at the foot of the Acropolis. On the way back followed some of the little streets with lots of small souvenir shops.

Athens unlike Dubai, which is like a huge building site with modern buildings, is old with an ancient history.

The most modern thing in Athens is the Greek Mac... @ Mac Donalds and the Acropolis Museum.

Had a great night just having a look around. Will join the Avondale tour tomorrow morning.
Lots of Statues

Don't know what this building is like the statue the information is in Greek.
